The Bleakhouse Hotel Albert Park Melbourne has been a landmark in the St Kilda area since 1883. Recently renovated, the hotel now offers guests a range of comfortable rooms and suites, each with their own unique character and charm. The hotel is also home to a great bar and restaurant, which serves up delicious food and drinks to locals and visitors alike.
Nestled in the heart of Melbourne’s South, The Bleakhouse is a coastal Albert Park pub with a difference. Owner Tom Walker has breathed new life into this beachside boozer, creating open-plan spaces that welcome locals and visitors alike. With nods to the 1850’s Charles Dicken’s novel of the same name, The Bleakhouse is perfect for those who appreciate a touch of history with their pint.
The Executive Chef, Dave Marshall (ex Middle Park Hotel, Wilson & Market), guides the menu serving British and Australian pub classics refined with modern additions. Screens in the Dining Room and throughout the Public Bar and Courtyard embrace the sporting bar atmosphere. With an extensive wine list, rotating craft beers on tap and classic cocktails, there is something for everyone.
Originally built in 1883, the pub has been restored to its former glory and is now a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike. With wood panelling and deep green booths, the pub has a warm and cosy atmosphere. The bar is fully stocked with all your favourite beers, wines and spirits, and there are also TVs fitted out at the head of each table so you can watch sport in comfort.
Traditional pub menu favorites like beer battered fish and chips, bangers and mash, and roasted chicken are all on the menu, as well as some more modern additions like chicken liver parfait served with quince jelly and brioche, and a charcuterie board featuring smoked ox tongue. And of course, no British meal would be complete without a helping of fish and chips!
With over 100 wines, some classic cocktails and a good range of tap beers like Mornington Hop Culture, Carlton Draught and Furphy, there’s something for everyone. The team at the Bleakhouse are passionate about their drinks and they love nothing more than chatting to customers and recommending their favourites. So pull up a stool, relax and enjoy a drink or two with friends at Melbourne’s favourite pub.
