Pomelo is the new rooftop bar in Melbourne, directly above Bouvardia. With a focus on fermentation, Dom Garreffa has whipped up some delicious cocktails like the B.A.B., a fermented play on black-apple brandy; and Honey, I Burnt the Yogurt, a non-alcoholic cocktail starring Greek yogurt cooked over four days.

This spot has it all – an Instagram-worthy pink and white color scheme, a fun and not just because of the zippy paint job. new Moon Dog Fizzer post-mix machines, which churn out a rotating selection of the brand’s hard seltzers made and canned in-house. With delicious flavours like passionfruit, grapefruit and peach Bellini, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking your drink.

Not only do they have a zero-waste policy, but they also upcycle as much as possible. For instance, their signature cocktail – the Purple Carrot – uses ingredients from downstairs that would otherwise be thrown away.

With an entrance via a stairwell on Melbourne Place, Pomelo is inspired by 80s Miami Art Deco and Memphis design – wacky shapes and bold colours. The bar offers panoramic views of Melbourne`s skyline, as well as an extensive drinks list that includes cocktails, wine and beer.

The menu features dishes like ricotta-filled zucchini flowers, marinated sardine skewers and fried ’nduja soldiers with three cheeses. If you’re looking for something heartier, Gigi also has a delicious bowl of orecchiette with broccoli and anchovies. No matter what you order, be sure to save room for dessert – Gigi’s tiramisu is not to be missed!

After a much-needed 2021 renovation, this Greek-influenced hotspot has turned into a modern and sleek venue with a New York state of mind.
