Garden State Hotel features a sprawling tiered Beer Garden that is perfect for hosting large groups, as well as a range of indoor and outdoor event spaces that are perfect for any occasion.

A sprawling tiered Beer Garden is the heart and soul of the hotel, with lush greenery and enormous ficus trees tower, seamlessly blending the outdoors in for a beer garden experience that will have you feeling as though you’re worlds away from Flinders Lane. With space to host more than 800 people, Garden State Hotel is perfect for large groups or events looking for an unforgettable night out.

Downstairs, the Rose Garden at the Garden State Hotel Melbourne is the perfect spot for a casual drink with friends. Located in the basement level, this intimate bar offers a wide selection of cocktails and wine, as well as light snacks. The garden-inspired setting is the perfect backdrop for a relaxing evening out.

The Garden State Hotel is the Sand Hill Road Group’s first crack at the CBD. Its six other pubs, including Prahran Hotel and The Bridge Hotel are mainly concentrated in Richmond.

It’s a little bit fancier – think marble tabletops and moody lighting – but it still has that down-to-earth feel that the group is known for. There are three separate menus designed by chef Ashly Hicks (ex-Circa), who has put together a mix of pub favourites and more refined dishes like twice cooked pork belly with apple puree and crackling.

The central atrium is decked out with full-grown trees and glowing spheres. Steps lead down to an indoor garden with seating along the balconies and across the tiered platforms. You can even watch sport on giant TVs.

The menu is available over the bar, with options such as a toasted broccoli and salted ricotta on casarecce pasta and the obligatory parma. You can also get three-cheese toasties and shoestring fries for around $10 via a self-serve kiosk.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner for two or a party for 120, the upstairs Garden Grill has the perfect space for you. With bentwood chairs, tall windows and peach-pink highlights, its the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. And don’t forget the private dining spaces – they can host anything from dinner for up to 20 to cocktail parties for 120.

Whether you’re after a cold Carlton Draught or something more exotic, the Garden State has you covered. And if cocktails are more your thing, they’ve got you covered there too – the San Fran-style Margarita is a particular standout. If you’re looking for a place that combines good drinks with an unrivalled sense of fun, Garden State is definitely worth checking out.
