Open since 2008, the space is a busy social hub offering a unique mix of art, fashion and food. Whether you’re popping in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you’re sure to enjoy something special – from the delicious all-day breakfast menu to the famous Cumulus Inc. roast chicken on Flinders Lane.
Andrew McConnell is the brains behind this iconic restaurant, which is known for its casual upstairs wine-bar Cumulus Up, and periodic menu tweaks. In 2018, the coffee bar and host area were refitted in black marble, and the DNA lighting was swapped out for new pendant lighting.
The menu at Cumulus Inc is all about reinvention. Sure, there are some classics on there- like the slow-roasted lamb shoulder. But most of the dishes have been given a modern twist, making them lighter, more exciting and more flavourful than their traditional counterparts. For example, the steak tartare: instead of being a heavy, dense dish, it`s been lightened up into an amuse-bouche that bursts with flavour.
With dishes inspired by Asia, Europe and America, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The three-dimensional flavours will transport you to far-off lands, while the playful tone of voice will make you feel right at home.
The décor is stylishly pared-back, with a touch of Parisian influence, and the open kitchen allows guests to watch the culinary magic unfold. The menu features inventive dishes that showcase the best of Australian produce, from seafood to meat and vegetables.
