Saving Grace Melbourne

Saving Grace is a cosy 50 seat diner bar modelled in traditional American style, nestled on the ground floor of an unassuming building on the corner of St James Lane and Church Lane in Melbourne’s CBD. Saving Grace features a large curved hardwood bar designed for seating, a booth section, and outward facing window benches designed to be enjoyed in small groups. The space has been meticulously designed with elements such as industrial-style lighting and furniture that reflects its roots as an old-school American diner.

Saving Grace’s Melbourne bar specialises in whiskies, gins and cocktails. What`s more? They have a selection of beers on tap! Saving Grace has an impressive back bar which features world whiskies and local gins. The cocktail list features classic favourites with a touch of personality added – one example being the spiced rum old fashioned, made from Caribbean rum infused with orange rind, star anise and vanilla bean. A must-have for any cocktail aficionado who wants to enjoy some booze without breaking the bank!

Boasting a full kitchen that’s currently home to Burger Boys menu, a local American pop-up kitchen team serving Classic American style burgers and southern recipe buttermilk fried chicken. The Burger Boys kitchen focusses on authentic ingredients from abroad like kosher dill pickles from Detroit in addition to fresh local Victorian produce. This attitude has helped turn Saving Grace into a local lunchtime favourite, and it’s not unusual to see a line out the door around midday.

The saving grace Melbourne bar is a classic, but with a twist. A perfect mix of old and new with the best in class service and ambiance. The space was designed by Simon and Dene, bringing in Julian Beattie (the man behind Little Andorra and Joe’s Shoe Store) to help out on design aspects as well as Gerard Kelly (Kings & Knaves Espresso) for consultation on technical aspects like lighting. What you get when you walk through the doors is an elegant black bar that will make any martini lover feel at home; classy without being pretentious or stuffy. It’s the kind of place where you can book a function or sit back and enjoy your favourite drink!
