The Prince Alfred Hotel is housed in a historic building transformed to include a shipping container for pop-up kitchens, a rooftop beer garden. Preserving the exterior of the 100-year old Grattan Street pub. The Alfred sports contemporary furniture, floral wallpaper and pink surfaces, it’s no wonder that locals flock to this trendy spot when they’re looking for good food and drinks menu on Friday nights!
It reopened in April 2018 after closing for a revamp at the end of 2017 the Prince Alfred Hotel was bought by 100 Burgers Group (Welcome to Thorbury, Belle’s Hot Chicken and Mr Burger). The hotel has been turned into a student haven complete with rooftop bar and pool.
The new-look hotel, which includes a ground-floor restaurant and café called Graziella, has undergone extensive renovations with one of its most notable features being a 130sqm outdoor terrace on its Rooftop Bar.
With an eclectic menu including za’atar-crusted tuna with house-pickled vegetables, green beans and 63 degree egg. The venue also has 60 taps serving nine different beers – McCracken’s Amber Ale, Goose Island IPA, and unpasteurised Carlton Draught among them. The menu includes lamb rump with roasted fennel and onion on pumpkin purée; fried banana bread with berries, caramel sauce and milk ice cream; all you can eat pancakes on Sundays.
The design was created by Hot Black Architecture who splashed around some metal joinery, floral wallpaper and pink surfaces to create an atmosphere that’s almost certain to have you coming back time after time. And if that wasn’t enough then there are also three food trucks offering up all sorts of tasty treats including pizza from Pizza Jona’s, burgers from Good Boy.
