It has a neon-lit Sirena “Tonno” sign restored after sitting atop the building for decades and 15-metre long bar serving an impressive drinks list.
The rooftop bar is big enough to comfortably fit 200 & has 360-degree views of Carlton and the sophisticated ambience of a rooftop party in Rome. From grilled meat to gelato, the food is designed to be shared with friends over drinks. The selection of local beer on tap (including Carlton Draught) as well as imports ensures there’s something for everyone!
Named in honour of the late Johnny Cash, and with a nod to his song ‘Green, Green Grass of Home’, this rooftop bar is a cool oasis in the heart of Melbourne. With its own entrance off King and Godfree Lane (next door to K&G Espresso Bar) it offers an escape from the busy city centre. Its location on level three means you can enjoy stunning views across Carlton while enjoying your drink or meal.
The focal point for this urban retreat is a large outdoor terrace overlooking Lygon and Faraday Streets where you could spend hours people-watching and sipping cocktails by day or night. Peach terrazzo benches made from repurposed steps dating back the 1950s are topped with navy blue cushions, brick dividing walls enormous potted plants and marble topped tables.
It has many options of Italian styled food including the pizza oven including puttanesca-style pies with olives, capers and anchovies to mortadella deluxe with potato, rosemary and buffalo mozzarella. The bar menu is all about modern day Italian snacks designed to sit alongside Victorian wines or Aperol spritz on tap.
