1806 Cocktail Bar

1806 Melbourne Bar is a unique cocktail bar that offers an experience like no other. Set in the building that once housed Tikki and John’s Crazyhouse, this bar is sure to offer a night you’ll never forget. With drinks named after famous historical figures and a stage that’s been turned into a bar, 1806 is perfect for those who want to have a little bit of fun while they drink.

The 1806 Melbourne bar celebrates classic cocktails and the stories behind them. The menu begins in the year 1806, when the word “cocktail” was first defined in print. There’s a classic mix to represent each decade since. Each entry is given context through a detailed history of where the drink comes from, who first mixed it, who first drank it and how it’s evolved over time.

110 whiskies have been added to the already groaning shelves behind the 1806 Melbourne Bar. Staff will walk you through a whisky tasting class, and offer a cocktail masterclass, a “gin odyssey” and a cocktail degustation for groups.

This bar offers small plates that are perfect for sharing, as well as larger cheese and charcuterie boards. If you have a sweet tooth, be sure to try the whisky-infused chocolate brownie – it`s delicious!

The bar is open seven days a week, with drinks served in either the main bar area or mezzanine. The mezzanine can also be booked out for private events, and you’ll find a fantastic selection of mocktails, wines and beers on offer.

With a focus on fresh Victorian produce, the menu has been designed by world-renowned chef Nuno Mendes Gabriel—an ex-elBulli kitchen team member who’s responsible for at least one Michelin star. If you’re looking for a drink with perfectly balanced flavours, this is the place to be.

With a focus on Irish poitin and Sri Lankan arrack, the talented bartenders at The Understudy create twists on classics or novel drinks that will take your taste buds on a journey around the world. So if you’re looking for something new and exciting in the world of cocktails, look no further than 1806 Melbourne Bar.
